Beth & Tom’s village local

For a pint.
For a pie.
For the company.

Beth and Tom Mercer took on The Fallow Hart in 2018, after years working in other people’s pubs. They live above it now, with a small local team alongside them.

Tom looks after the bar, cellar and welcome. Beth runs the kitchen. Together they brought the garden back into use, restored the fireplace and made food a reason to linger.

At Tom’s end of the pub

What’s your usual?

A regular Kentish bitter, a changing guest ale, lager, stout and cider. There’s wine by the glass or bottle, a few good gins and whiskies, alcohol-free beer, soft drinks and coffee.

Eight bar seats are kept for walk-ins. Muddy boots are welcome here.

The countryside on our doorstep

Take the long way.

In the invented Fallow Hart story, walkers can come into the bar in muddy boots. There’s a boot brush, wet-coat hooks and free water-bottle refills. These real mapped routes do not begin at the fictional pub.
